Mediaseek, inc. ("Mediaseek") provides various contents form text to movie via colors of medias through network infrastructure. Mediaseek acknowledge that it is significant social reliability to protect and handle personal information appropriately.
Mediaseek will comply with the applicable laws and regulations. Mediaseek constructs personal information protection and management system to fulfill our pledges as below.

  1. Mediaseek will specifically state the purpose of use, and obtain, use and provide to a third party personal information within the limits necessary for business operation. Mediaseek will not handle personal information exceeding the limit necessary for achieving specified purpose (hereinafter referred to as “handling for non-specified purpose”), and will take measures to prevent the handling for non-specified purpose.

  2. Mediaseek will take reasonable safety measures and put needed management resources to reduce the risk of unauthorized access, loss, destruction, falsification and leakage. Mediaseek will take measures to prevent personal information from leakage, loss or destruction and will continuously endeavor to improve security system regarding personal information.

  3. Mediaseek will comply with applicable laws, regulations and guidelines set by Governmental authorities. Mediaseek will set up inquiry counter for users to exercise their rights.

  4. Mediaseek will periodically revise and improve personal information protection and management system continuously in accord with recent trend of information technology.

Mediaseek make this pledge disclosed to and acknowledged by all of its employees. Mediaseek make effort to educate and enlighten its employees to elevate the consciousness for protection of personal information.

STATEMENT ON THE PURPOSE OF USE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

On handling of personal information

Mediaseek handle personal information according to below.

    (Compliance with Laws and Regulations)

  1. Mediaseek will comply with the applicable laws and regulations including "Act on the Protection of Personal Information" and obligations under the applicable ministerial guidelines as Mediaseek obtain, handle and use in any way personal information of user.
  2. (Purpose of Use of Personal Information)

  3. Mediaseek hereby states the purpose of use of personal information obtained from User.

    For the purposes set forth in this section, “Mediaseek” includes Mediaseek’s group companies.

    * Provision of functions of products, services, etc. provided by Mediaseek.

    * Improvement and enhancement of products, services, etc. provided by Mediaseek, and development of new functions.

    * Response to and resolution of problems arising in connection with products, services, etc. provided by Mediaseek.

    * Response to inquiries, opinions, and requests from User.

    * Development and consideration of new products and services by Mediaseek.

    * Provision of information on existing products and services provided by Mediaseek.

    * Provision of information on new products and services to be provided by Mediaseek.

    * Provision of information on existing products and services provided by Mediaseek’s business partners and marketing partners.

    * Provision of information on new products and services to be provided by Mediaseek’s business partners and marketing partners.

    * Handle and solve problems occurred on ICONIT Application/Service
    Mediaseek will prior state the purpose of use when Mediaseek obtain written personal information directly from User. Lack, insufficiency or inadequacy of User's giving User's personal information may cause inappropriate operation/service provision.


  4. (Use of Personal Information within Scope for Purposes)

  5. Mediaseek will handle personal information within the limit necessary for purposes prior stated and disclosed except for cases as set below pursuant to the Article 16 paragraph 3 of "Act on the Protection of Personal Information".
    (1) permitted under the relevant laws and regulations;
    (2) necessary to secure human live, body or property and it is difficult to obtain User's consent.
    (3) especially necessary to promote public health or healthy cultivation of children and it is difficult to obtain User's consent.
    (4) necessary to cooperate with national organ or municipal government (including any persons or entities consigned by such organ or government) in commission of such organ or government to perform its duties according to laws and regulations and in the threat that obtaining User's consent may interfere in such performance.
    (5) Cases in which personal data is provided to an academic research institution, etc., and the academic research institution, etc. needs to handle the personal data for academic research purposes, including cases where part of the purpose of handling the personal data is academic research, excluding cases where there is a risk of unjustly infringing the rights and interests of individuals.
  6. (Joint Use)

  7. Mediaseek will jointly use User’s personal information within the scope described below for the purpose of achieving the purposes of use that have been specified and published in advance.
    (1) Items of personal information to be jointly used
    All personal information of User, unless otherwise specifically requested by User.
    (2) Scope of joint users
    Mediaseek’s group companies.
    (3) Purposes of use by joint users
    Same as those described in “Purpose of Use of Personal Information” above.
    (4) Name, address, and name of representative of the party responsible for the management of the personal information

  8. (Measures to Protect Personal Information)

  9. Mediaseek will make effort to maintain User's personal information correct and recent and take safety control measures below to protect it against unauthorized access, falsification, leakage, loss and destruction.
    (1) Mediaseek established privacy policy as a basic policy on handling personal information.
    (2) For assuring appropriate handling of personal information, Mediaseek built Personal Information Protection Management Systems (“PMS”) regarding compliance to laws, regulations and guidelines and correspondence to inquiries and suggestions. PMS includes “Personal Information Protection Manual” which regulates plan, implementation, operation, correspondence to complaints and inquiries and correction and prevention measures and so on.
    (3) Mediaseek assigned Personal Information Protection Manager and give needed authority to such manager.
    (4) For protection of customer’s personal information, Mediaseek make needed and appropriate supervision according to PMS. In addition, Mediaseek give needed education and training to its employees according to PMS for assuring appropriate handling of personal information.
    (5) As devices, electronic media and papers on or with which personal information is handled Mediaseek take control on them including lock or password according to PMS.
    (6) Upon employees’ handling personal information, protective measures are set including limitation and control on using personal information and confinement of accessible area of personal information data-base or other media according to PMS.
  10. (Appropriate Handling of Personal Information in Subcontractors)

  11. Mediaseek may provide User's personal information to its contractors, including subcontractors, in connection with the outsourcing of all or part of the handling of User’s personal information, to the extent necessary to achievethe purpose of use that have been specified and published in advance.

    In such case, Mediaseek will confirm that the contractor appropriately handles personal information when selecting the contractor, and will require the contractor to appropriately handle User’s personal information, including by stipulating matters concerning the appropriate handling of personal information in the outsourcing agreement.
  12. (Provision to Third Party)

  13. Without User's consent, Mediaseek will not provide User's personal information to a third party except for cases as set below pursuant to the Article 27 paragraph 1 of "Act on the Protection of Personal Information".
    (1) Cases based onlaws and regulations;
    (2) Cases in which personal information is provided in connection with the outsourcing of all or part of the handling of personal information to Mediaseek’s contractors, including subcontractors, to the extent necessary to achieve the purposes of use that have been specified and published in advance.
    (3) Cases in which it is necessary to protect a person’s life, body, or property and it is difficult to obtain User's consent.
    (4) Cases in which there is a special need to improve public health or promote the healthy development of children, and it is difficult to obtain User's consent.
    (5) Cases in which it is necessary to cooperate with a national government agency, local government, or a person entrusted by either of them in performing performing affairs prescribed by laws and regulations, and obtaining User's consent is likely to interfere with the performance such affairs.
    (6) Cases in which personal data is provided to an academic research institution, etc., and the academic research institution, etc. needs to handle the personal data for academic research purposes, including cases where part of the purpose of handling the personal data is academic research, excluding cases where there is a risk of unjustly infringing the rights and interests of individuals.
  14. (Request on User's Personal Information)

  15. When User wishes to request notification of the purpose of use, disclosure, correction, addition, deletion, suspension of use, or suspension of provision to third parties of User's personal information, please contact the address below.
  16. (User Inquiries)

  17. Mediaseek will promptly and properly respond to User's complaint or other inquiries on the handling of personal information. Concerning complaints or other inquiries please contact the address below.
  18. (Upon Incidence of Accident)

  19. On the incidence of accidents regarding User's personal information, Mediaseek will promptly and properly deal with such accidents including immediate notice of the facts to User or disclosure to the public.
  20. (Continuous Improvement)

  21. According to personal information protection and management system, Mediaseek will continuously endeavor to improve the handling of personal information through maintenance of internal rules, education to employees and internal audit.
